Sparring for CTOs and Tech Leads

Together, we bring clarity to architecture and platform decisions – focusing on feasibility, maintainability, and speed.

When to Seek Consulting?

Technical consulting is not the right solution for every problem. I can help you in the following situations:

Strategic Uncertainty

You are facing a critical technical decision and need a well-founded second opinion.

Acute Problems

Performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, or critical architectural problems.

Growth Challenges

Your team is growing, but productivity is declining. Technical debt is hindering development.

Second Opinion

You are looking for an independent evaluation of an existing solution proposal or architectural plan.

Modernization

Cloud migration, DevOps transformation, or Microservices implementation are on the agenda.

Technical Debt

The legacy codebase is becoming a bottleneck. You need a strategic reduction plan.

Our Consulting Focus Areas

I offer specialized consulting in the following areas:

Technology Selection

Finding the right technology for your project. I consider team skills, recruiting, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

Performance Optimization

Systematic analysis and resolution of performance bottlenecks. From database queries to frontend optimization.

DevOps & CI/CD

From manual deployments to fully automated CI/CD pipelines. Reduce release risks and increase deployment frequency.

Strategic reduction of technical debt without halting feature development. Quantification and prioritized repayment plan.

How I Work

Our consulting process in 4 steps:

1

Analysis & Discovery

First, we examine your specific situation: technical infrastructure, team setup, business requirements, and pain points. Duration: 1-3 days.

2

Evaluation & Options

I develop 2-3 solution options with detailed pros/cons, risks, and cost estimates. Including Technology Decision Records.

3

Roadmap & Quick Wins

Together, we prioritize the measures. I identify quick wins for rapid success and create an actionable plan.

4

Support & Review

Optional: I support the implementation, conduct code reviews, and serve as a sparring partner.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does consulting differ from mentoring?

Consulting focuses on strategic decisions and problem-solving (What? Why?). Mentoring focuses on skill development and knowledge transfer (How?). Often, both are combined: consulting for direction, mentoring for implementation.

Do you also work hands-on on implementation?

Yes, if needed. Often, a "show, don't tell" approach is more effective: I implement initial versions as a reference, and your team then takes over further implementation with our review.

How do you stay technologically up-to-date?

I invest 20% of my time in further education: conferences, open-source contributions, side projects with new technologies. Additionally: learning through real projects – I apply the theoretically learned concepts in practice where it makes sense.

Do you also provide second opinions?

Absolutely. Teams often bring me in as a "sparring partner" for important technical decisions. An external perspective can prevent operational blindness and identify risks early.

What does consulting cost?

Depending on the scope: Quick audits start from 2-3 days (€3,000-€5,000), comprehensive consulting projects are calculated on a project basis or as a monthly retainer. An initial introductory meeting is always free.
